James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 97/100 & Top 100 Weine aus Neuseeland 2021. Aromas of sweet strawberries, spice and dried flowers, as well as some spices, such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Juicy and extremely long. Solid and polished. Goes on for minutes. Drink or hold.

Cameron Douglas MS: 96/100 (23.03.2023).  Powerful bouquet, savoury and complex, aromas and flavours ripe dark red fruits plum and cherry, some black currant, flinty nut quality and layers of oak with baking spices. Delicious on the palate, an abundance of mealy polished and rounded tannins, acidity and core fruit flavours synergies with the tannins, the savoury quality is excellent. An excellent example.

Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 96/100. Dense pinot noir with flavours across the ripeness spectrum from fresh herbs and rhubarb to cassis and dark berries. There is also a suggestion of violet, floral and liquorice characters. A little closed right now but with a promising future. The wine opened up as it sat in the glass. Might be worth decanting. Drink 2021 to 2029.

Gourmet Traveller WINE: 96/100.  Concentrated pinot with flavours across the ripeness spectrum, from fresh herbs and rhubarb to cassis and dark berries. Add to that a suggestion of violet/floral and liquorice characters, which collectively produce a wine of real complexity.

VINOUS - Rebecca Gibb MW: 95/100. The 2019 Pinot Noir Dry River is deep and concentrated. It offers up dense damson notes, fruitcake, black tea and subtle herbal characters, filling the mouth with its powerful, rich fruit core while being a savoury and satisfying expression. A rich, tannic structure provides a frame for cellaring. ... another excellent Pinot from Dry River... Drinking window: 2023-2035.

Michael Cooper: 5 Sterne & Super Classic. Dark and densely flavoured, this Martinborough red ranks among New Zealand's greatest Pinot Noirs. It is grown in three company-owned vineyards – Dry River Estate, Craighall and Lovat – on the Martinborough Terrace, and most of the vines are over 20 years old. Matured for a year in French oak hogsheads (20 to 30 per cent new), it is a slower-developing wine than other New Zealand Pinot Noirs, but matures superbly. The perfumed 2019 vintage (5*) is deep ruby, rich and supple, with vigorous cherry, plum and spice flavours, fresh acidity, and excellent depth and harmony. Best drinking 2025+.

Verkostungsnotiz

Ein intensiv duftender Pinot Noir mit Aromen von Brombeeren, Pflaumen, Schwarzkirschen, schwarzer Johannisbeere, Lakritz, etwas Zimt und Veilchen. Am Gaumen geht der vollmundige Wein in einen komplexen Geschmack von dunklen Beeren über, die von Gewürzen und floralen Noten bestens unterstützt werden. Die Säure ist perfekt integriert und sorgt für Vitalität im Wein. Die Tannine sorgen für eine herausragende Textur. Ein sehr langanhaltender Abgang.

Rebsorte: 100% Pinot Noir

Weinherstellung: Trauben wurden zu 65% entrappt, Reifung für 12 Monate in 300l und 350l Eiche (15% neu).

Tipp: leicht unter Zimmertemperatur bei 16-18°C servieren, damit die Aromen voll zur Geltung kommen und mindestens 1 Stunde dekantieren.
