Auntsfield Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Reviews & accolades
Cameron Douglas MS: 95/100. Fantastic bouquet and palate with layers of white fleshed orchard fruits and citrus, there’s a sweet ripe lime quality and core mineral quality suggesting river stone and pebble. Complex, taut, dry and fruity led by flavours of grapefruit then apple and peach. The mineral suggestion carries through the palate seamlessly. The frame of acidity and fine fruit tannins along with lees and a touch of fruit spice offer complexity as well as texture. Delicious wine with best drinking from late 2025 through 2029+.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 95/100. It's gorgeously expressed on the nose, with aromas of passionfruit, kaffir lime, rockmelon, and
fresh herbs. The palate exhibits excellent concentration and fine flow, splendidly structured by
beautifully pitched acidity, with a long and satisfying finish. At its best: now to 2032.
Tasting Note
The wine presents a clear, pale straw hue. The bouquet is lifted and pure, exploding with classic aromas of fresh passionfruit, citrus blossom, and lime. Intriguing secondary notes of dried herbs, lemongrass, papaya, and even a hint of jalapeño add pungent complexity and intensity to the aromatics. This is a powerful, tight, and elegant wine. The palate is saturated with intense, ripe fruit flavours, showcasing passionfruit juice and white peach, supported by sharp citrus notes of lime and grapefruit pith. It offers superb concentration and a generous weight, which is beautifully balanced by an underlying minerality and a tight structure. This combination creates a wine with lively tension and exquisite textural balance.

Additional information
Type: White wine
Grape varial: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Food match: A great match with all seafood, particularly shellfish. The crisp flavours work well with fresh summer salads or soft goat cheese. Try this wine with mussel ravioli in a lemon beurre blanc sauce.
Vineyard: Auntsfield Estate, Southern Valleys, Marlborough, New Zealand.
Soil type: ancient Greywacke rock and Loess clay soils
Growing season: The 2025 season was characterised by excellent yields and a warm dry long Summer. Regular winter rainfall and a warm late spring encouraged optimal canopy growth and fruit set. Summer was dry but stayed relatively cool resulting in healthy vines with no disease or water stress. Many hours were spent throughout the season reducing yields to optimal levels. There was a slow progression into Autumn with a long, drawn-out ripening period where the fruit reached optimum ripeness in perfect harvest conditions.
Winemaking: Picked during cool evenings, fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks was utilised to retain the fresh varietal aromatics with 10% fermented with indigenous yeast. After fermentation, the wine underwent an extended period of lees contact, adding texture and length to the wine. The result is a hand-crafted wine combining the bright fresh fruit characters with an underlying minerality and fine structure.
