Sparkling Wine from New Zealand
New Zealand combines traditional methods of sparkling wine production with a cool climate and abundant sunshine – ideal conditions for sparkling wines of remarkable quality.
The result is a range of balanced, finely structured wines in a variety of styles: precise fruit expression, natural freshness, vibrant acidity, and a full, mouth-filling texture. New Zealand sparkling wines are celebrated for their depth, finesse, and pure drinking pleasure.
Marlborough is regarded as the heart of New Zealand’s sparkling wine production, though distinctive styles are crafted across the country. Particularly popular is the Méthode Traditionnelle, based on the classic grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Only about 1 % of New Zealand’s sparkling wines are exported – true rarities indeed.
Typical Regional Styles
MarlboroughThe center of New Zealand’s sparkling wine production: the cool climate and high levels of sunshine bring freshness, structure, and a clearly defined fruit character to the wines.
Central OtagoA region where passion, precision, and a unique climate meet. As the most continental winegrowing area in the country, with pronounced temperature differences between day and night, Central Otago produces sparkling wines with depth, tension, and balance – lively, textured, and elegantly refined.
