This Pinot Noir was grown from premium vineyards from the world-famous Marlborough region of New Zealand. It possesses complex aromatics, with sweet ripe fruits, savoury earthy notes, and stem and oak spice.

The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand around 150 years ago. Produced from the gravelly soils of the Gimblett Gravels, this distinct Syrah shows an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics with lushness and elegance on the palate.

Te Kahu means 'the cloak' in te reo Maori and refers to the mist that envelops Craggy Range Winery in the Tukituki Valley. Legend has it that this mist was used to protect a mythical Maori maiden from the sun as she visited her lover Te Mata. This is a wine of richness and an abundance of black fruit flavours and a long structured finish.

Made by Vigneron of the Year NZ 2025: Silky, supple, and savoury. What an effort! All fruit for this wine was hand-picked, hand-sorted then destemmed and grape (!!!) sorted as to ensure that only pristine, perfect Pinot grapes make it into the fermenters. This vineyard, planted in 2001 on the edge of Martinborough Terrace, is Ata Rangi's most gravelly, free draining site. The wine is characterised by fine aromas of red fruits, plums, floral notes and an autumnal spiciness, which are wonderfully integrated by the ageing in large wooden barrels (2280l) - a wine with exceptional finesse and long ageing potential.
