In warmer regions, the Chardonnays are typically full-medium bodied, round, with rich flavours.
In cooler regions, the wines are typically medium-light bodied, with greater acidity and minerality and fresh, citrus and savoury flavours.

During the 1990s, plantings of this internationally fashionable variety exceeded those of every other grape, today top quality Chardonnay can be found in every region. Chardonnay now accounts for 6% of the wine production and 2% of the exported wines.
