Crafted from 20-year-old vines on the renowned Te Muna Terrace in Martinborough, this Sauvignon Blanc captures both elegance and intensity. The stony, low-fertility soils give the wine its distinctive texture, while the cool climate and refreshing ocean breeze shape its vibrant character. Bursting with lively lime and citrus notes, rounded off by subtle hints of wild herbs, it leaves a lasting, delicious impression on the palate.

Craggy Range Martinborough Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Review

review Craggy Range Martinborough Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2024Cameron Douglas MS: 94/100.  A delicious wine with the signature of place firmly stamped in the bouquet - aromas of clay and silty soils framing fruits scents of white pineapple and cape gooseberry then fresh grapefruit and peach. On the palate a dry wine with a backbone of acidity, satin texture and backbone of acidity framing fruit flavours and mineral. Well made and ready to drink from 2025 through 2030.

review Craggy Range Martinborough Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2024MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator: 93/100. Offers a stunning, intense and energetic mix of ripe peach, Meyer lemon, Key lime and fresh Honeycrisp apple notes, with accents of litsea oil, toasted green tea and Himalayan sea salt on the finish. A touch of lemon balm lingers. Drink now.

review Craggy Range Martinborough Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2024James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 92/100. Citrus-driven aromas with undertones of white pepper, jalapeno, lime leaf, crushed stones and flint. The palate is light-bodied, with a bright line of acidity and a tightly wound mouthfeel, finishing with a mineral edge. Nicely constructed, with a good core of fruit. Drink now. Screw cap.

review Craggy Range Martinborough Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2024Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast: 92/100. On the riper end of the Sauvignon spectrum, there's a heady combo of orange peel, pineapple, kiwi and flower blossom aromas that flow to a refreshing palate. It's delicate and crisp with a little creaminess to the texture and a fruity tang to the long finish.

Tasting note

Grown on the lower terrace at Te Muna Road, this wine shows a unique level of texture and complexity. The cooler climate of Martinborough ensures the wine is aromatic with steely minerality while the rocky soils gives intensity of the fruit.

Pale lemon in colour, this Sauvignon Blanc speaks of the complex soils found at our Te Muna vineyard. The elegant aromas of white peach, lemon, blossoms, fresh-cut herbs, and passionfruit follow through to the palate, which is met with crisp acidity. The wine is harmonised by the stony minerality, subtle salinity, and chalky texture that the old river stones of our vineyards provide.

Food match: Enjoy with Grilled Scallops with Lemon and Herb Butter, Goat Cheese and Arugula Salad or Spicy Thai Shrimp Tacos

Serving: Serve well chilled at 7-10°C to accentuate the crisp acidity and fresh aromatics.

Vineyard: Te Muna Valley, Martinborough, New Zealand. Te Muna Valley lies just outside the Martinborough township, nestled along the winding Huangarua River. This subregion is characterised by its dramatic diurnal shifts, high wind exposure, and ancient alluvial soils layered with gravels and clay.

Winemaking: Harvesting takes place in the cool morning hours to preserve the grapes’ aromatic expression. After careful selection, the fruit is gently pressed. Fermentation is temperature-controlled and carried out predominantly in stainless steel tanks, while a small portion is fermented in seasoned French oak barrels to add texture and complexity. Following fermentation, the wine matures for several months on fine lees, with regular stirring (bâtonnage) enhancing structure and mouthfeel. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided in order to retain the Sauvignon Blanc’s natural acidity and precision.

Cellaring potential: Drink from now till 2027.
