Palliser Estate Chardonnay 2022
Reviews
Cameron Douglas MS: 95/100. A classic Chardonnay bouquet from the Palliser team with scents of fresh peach and vanilla burnt butter, spices of barrel toast and a roasted cashew nut quality. Youthful, vibrant and enticing. The nutty richness from the bouquet touches the palate first then flavours of peaches and sweet grapefruit, some baked apple and quince suggestions. A decent acid line, judicious use of oak and lengthy finish showcases a wine of quality, length and complexity. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 95/100. This is gorgeously styled and expressed on the nose with ripe stone fruit, lemon peel, nougat and hazelnut aromas with a hint of oatmeal nuance. The concentrated palate displays terrific fruit power with splendid complexity, leading to a persistent, delectable finish. Wonderfully composed with richly textured mouthfeel, making it hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2030.
Tasting note
An intensely satisfying bouquet of vanilla, crème brûlée, grilled nectarine, pineapple and hazelnut. A ripe and creamy style of our Estate Chardonnay on first inspection, before the classic Palliser freshness and minerality floods the palate along with juicy pineapple flavours and nutty French Oak. A fine, mealy mouthfeel and tight structure amounts to a stylish and satisfying wine.
