Tasting Note
Pungent aromatics of Meyer lemon, white pineapple, and powdery florals with nettle, fennel, and boxwood notes adding layers of complexity. The palate is crisp and textural with impressions of juicy lime, preserved lemon, fresh herbs, and wet rock. This wine possesses classic Awatere minerality, concentrated fruit, and a long, crisp, refreshing finish. Great as an aperitif or paired with food.

Reviews & Accolades
Reviews and accolades for te Pā Reserve Hillside Sauvignon Blanc 2024:
Erin Larkin
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2024 The Reserve Collection Hillside Sauvignon Blanc hails from the widely loved 2024 season. “The perfect vintage," proclaim many. It was warm, dry and low yielding, with little to no disease pressure. The minerality of the site, when combined with the amplitude of the season, works so nicely; it gives chew and weight in the mouth, with layers of exotic spice, with fennel and thyme, a hint of star anise, cut pear, lemon oil and green apple and even dried coriander. This super looks so good.

International Wine & Spirit Competition
A subtle bouquet of tropical fruits, leading to a palate where ripe stone fruits, particularly peach, take centre stage. The finish is savoury yet refreshing, marked by a lively minerality.

Additional information
Type: White wine from New Zealand
Grape varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Food match: Seafood, shellfish, fresh salads, goat cheese.
Wine region: Marlborough (Awatere Valley), New Zealand
Vineyard: The fruit for this wine was sourced from C block in the Awatere Valley, Redwood Hills Vineyard. C block is in the lower to middle part of the slope and is naturally low yielding, pruned to 3 canes, and planted in soils consisting of loess over free-draining gravels. This naturally low-vigour site does not require shoot thinning, and receives a light leaf pluck around the fruit zone.
Vintage summary: The 2023/24 growing season was characterised by a dry winter, a few frost events in spring, and cool, unsettled weather at flowering, which resulted in low bunch and berry numbers. Summer delivered a classic Marlborough pattern with warm days and cool nights—one of the driest on record, with prevailing warm northwesterly winds keeping the vines slightly stressed and berry sizes small. The drought, combined with low yields and high sunshine hours, meant harvest was underway early. Cool nights and a cooler end to the season slowed things down at just the right time, preserving a signature crisp acidity. The 2024 wines are concentrated, pure, and possess ripe, generous flavours with fresh and precise acid structures.
Winemaking: The fruit was handpicked and whole-bunch pressed to stainless steel tanks for settling and fermentation. A press cut was made, and only the free-run portion of the juice was used. The wine was cold-settled and racked to ferment in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank. Once fermentation was completed, the batches were left on gross lees for a further 10 weeks prior to being racked and blended in a stainless steel tank. The wine was kept on light lees for an additional 3 months.
